all artmaking is a form of recording what has happened
what is history? who gets to write history?
what are artists doing when they make art?
representations of reality, portrayals of truth, depictions of the world - as they see it
artworks preserve a snapshot of the world as it is witnessed by artists
artists are bearers of truth; or at least a version of the truth held by the world in that period of time
in the present, we make art to bridge worlds - worlds separated by individual perceptions and conceptions of reality
across time, art bridges worlds apart - worlds stretching across different eras and time periods, from renaissance to industrial revolution, post-war to modern day
art creates encounters for worlds to overlap
art sets the stage for conversations to happen across worlds
art brings minds and souls together
